Master Plan Assessment for a Tourism Project in Queensland

The client is planning to develop a fully integrated large-scale, mixed-use tourism and residential development on an island in regional Queensland and was seeking a high-level, independent assessment of the current master plan concept and of the layout and transient accommodation mix of the proposed development to ensure that the project is on track and in line with expected market requirements. The report was to be used a supporting document as part of the planning and approval submission with government authorities.
The scope of work included:

  • Review of the primary feasibility factors of the site and surrounding area that will underpin the success of the development.
  • Assess the impact of COVID-19 on tourism region and Queensland more broadly and provide a post-COVID assessment of opportunities for tourism.
  • Review of the current master plan layout for the development.
  • Profile large tourism developments within regional Australia and identify the key success factors for successful large-scale integrated resort developments in Australia.
